The Flamingo Gliding Competition

Our latest attraction at the Flamingo Party Center is an old Dutch game, which is known as “sjoelen” or “Dutch Shuffleboard”. We have given it our own name, and call it “Flamingo Gliding”.
This typical Dutch game is for young and old and is a lot of fun. The number of players is basically unlimited, as each player gets his/her own turn to make a score.
For the competitive people among us, we organize our own Flamingo Gliding Competition. For the top scorer we offer a fantastic free holiday. But even if you don’t win this great prize, just playing the game is a lot of fun for sure.
As a bonus, we offer a free drink to any player who scores 80 points or more.
The game is played on a 6 foot board, called the “sjoelbak” or “shuffleboard”. At the end of the board, there is a bar which contains 4 gates, numbered from 1 to 4. The player gets 30 wooden discs to start the game. The goal is to slide as many discs through the 4 gates, to score points. For every set of 4 discs that are in all four gates, 10 bonus points are awarded. The maximum score that can be reached is 148 points (seven sets of four discs, and the last two discs in gate number 4).
When the discs start piling up in front of the gates, skill and insight, similar to playing pool, can help a player to free the path, and get more discs to pass the gates. When a player still has discs, he can use them to drive the discs that are in front of the gates, through the gates, making him score more points. The more skilled a player gets, the better he/she will be able to score more points.
This game can become very exciting. If you have played it once, you will want to play it again and again, to increase your skills and your scores.
When the player has used all 30 discs, the ones that have not passed any gates can be taken back for the second and the third round. When the third round is completed, the total score is established. After all players have finished their turn, the player with the highest score wins. If two or more players have the same score, they can play an extra round, to make out who the real expert is.
So don’t wait and bring your family and friends to the Flamingo Party Center for a day or evening full of fun.
