“Amazing Thailand” will take you deep into the jungle aboard a bamboo raft, where you’ll see a rare glimpse of the indigenous hill tribe villages in Northern Thailand and explore uninhabited tropical beaches by kayak. Discover the many art forms, shimmering golden Buddhist temples, and the hidden canals of Bangkok. A highlight for history buffs is the profile on Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam that was sacked in the 1767 by Burmese invaders.

Shiley is a Portland-based filmmaker who is no stranger to adventure travel, having completed a 3,000-mile solo bicycle journey from Canada to Cabo San Lucas in 1993. Earlier that year, he worked as a scuba dive guide in the Red Sea in Egypt. Shiley has traveled to 36 countries and made film documentaries on Thailand, Cambodia, Nepal, Iraq and Japan. His film company, Shidog Films, is a documentary video production company focusing on developing countries. His films are shown at colleges, performing arts centers, historic theatres, travel associations and geographic societies.

Travel at the Tripp is produced by LBCC Performing Arts and AAA Travel Services. Experts from AAA Travel will be on hand along with the filmmaker to answer travel questions, with prizes from AAA given at each show.

The remaining shows in the series are:

• Sunday, March 7: “Ghost Towns of the Wild West” with Gray Warriner.

• Sunday, April 11: “A Canal Adventure in England, Scotland and Wales” with Fran Reidelberger.

Tickets are $8 per show, or $6.50 for students/seniors. All films will be shown on Sundays at 2 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center in Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. S.W., Albany.
