Madonna royal drama to screen at Venice Film Festival

Madonna’s film about King Edward VIII’s romance with American divorcee Wallis Simpson will have its world premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival.

Painter Lucian Freud dies aged 88

Realist painter Lucian Freud, one of Britain’s most distinguished and highly regarded artists, has died aged 88.

New York dealer William Acquavella said Freud had died at his London home on Wednesday after an unspecified illness.

Harry Potter film takes $168m to break ticket records

The final Harry Potter movie has shattered box office records in the US and Canada, taking $168m (£104m) over its opening weekend.
